| Don Baldwin is a retired minister, artist, and photographer, living with his wife Peggy in Nevada City, California. As an active United Methodist minister of the California-Nevada Annual Conference, Don’s pastoral appointments included the position of Resident Minister in Yosemite National Park, Campus Minister at the University of Kansas, and pastor of the United Methodist churches at Lake Tahoe, Truckee, and Aptos, California.
Growing up near Yosemite, Don’s deep affinity with the Sierras led him to begin first-person dramatizations of California’s famous environmentalist, John Muir. A third-generation Methodist minister, Don also began portrayals of the Reverend John Wesley, founder of the early Methodist movement in England.

Don has been intimately engaged with religion and the arts all his life, sensing the universal interconnection of all life and creation. Deeply aware of the inherent spiritual gifts of nature, and the need for persons to experience renewal through beauty, poetry and music, for over 40 years Don has created inspirational audio-visual slide shows and films to express the beauty and wonder of God’s creation. He now travels widely through the Western United States with these multi-media programs, as well as his reenactments of Wesley and Muir.
Don graduated with BA in Sociology from the College of the Pacific, Stockton, CA, and holds a M.Div degree from Drew Theological School, Madison, N.J. In addition to serving on the board of Earth Justice Ministries, Don is active in addressing social justice issues on both a local and global level. He loves skiing, kayaking, sculpture, photography, camping, and sauntering with his wife Peggy through the glorious Sierra foothills. They have two adult daughters, and a cherished grey cat named “Clarence.”
